The University of Toronto Art Center (UTAC) featured The Shelley Peterson Student Art Exhibition from April 2 – 13, 2013. This exhibition celebrated the work of undergraduate students in the visual studies programs of the three University of Toronto campuses. The exhibition recognized the achievements and excellence of these artists and demonstrated the importance of the visual studies programs in developing their work. The diversity of the works reflected the exceptional quality and breadth of artistic expression across the three campuses.

The forty works displayed in this exhibition were made by thirty-one talented young artists who explored themes relevant to everyone’s everyday lives. Whether contemplating the mortality of the self and others, examining the relationship between the natural world and the structures humankind creates, struggling with self-identity, or trying to find a place in a cross-cultural context, each student expressed his or her personal story through art in a way to which we could all relate.

This exhibition was generously sponsored by TD Insurance and the University of Toronto.
