Science in Colour!: Exploring the History of Scientific Instruments at the University of Toronto

Science in Colour! shines light on the history of scientific study pertaining to colour at the University of Toronto. This exhibition brings together equipment and research from multiple disciplines to show how University of Toronto researchers have studied colour and the way we perceive it. The exhibit also explores how colour has been used as a tool to better understand our universe and illuminate the invisible in our world. The exhibition has been developed jointly by the Master of Museum Studies Program and the Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at the University of Toronto. The exhibition is located on the third floor of Victoria College, where the offices and student space of the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology are located.

The exhibition is written to appeal to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Toronto, though the exhibition’s content is geared towards anyone who has an interest in the sciences.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Dunlap Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Department of Physics, Department of Psychology, the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Faculty of Information, the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, the University of Toronto Scientific Instruments Collections, and Victoria University at the University of Toronto.  Explores the role colour plays in scientific study at the University of Toronto: featuring a wide variety of early scientific instruments.
